CLEARWAY specialises in the detection, clearance and removal of mines and unexploded weapons on land from battle areas, military firing ranges, and agricultural land prior to the return of refugees. The pictures below show the range of tasks we can undertake.
June 1990 awarded a contract with Afghan Technical Consultants (ATC) to train 12 local personnel to maintain and operate 3 Aardvark Joint Service Flail Units (JSFU). On completion of training the whole team was deployed to Urgun in Packtika province. The UK personnel supervised the operations until March 1992 when they left the Afghan personnel to run their own operations.
Following an explosion in an explosives magazine in Indonesia, CLEARWAY was contracted to inspect 6 other stores in the vicinity and neutralise any exuded nitroglycerine before destroying or repacking explosives as necessary.
In June 1991 CLEARWAY was sub-contracted by Royal Ordnance for 18 months to provide approx 220 explosive ordnance technicians to clear the beach and desert minefields in Kuwait, and 30 medics, mechanics and administrative staff to support the clearance operations.
